Hiking NJ: Trail to Surprise Lake

Hiking. I like that shit.

And the trail to surprise like is one of my absolute favorites. It has a lot to offer for any level of skill.

Here is an in depth description of the hike. NJ Hiking.

My only issue is that I wish we had done this hike in early summer. The swimming would have been awesome, and the foliage in full bloom. We got just the fainest signs of green and life.

Although, we did go on an unusually warm day (75 degrees) in April. So needless to say I brought my donut float and jumped right on in anyway. You have to do it for the gram — am I right?

I ended up going all the way in because my friend  is not the strongest swimmer in the bunch… and the wind started carrying her a little far off.

The trail has elevation changes

Large boulders for posing

A rhododendron tunnel

And a pretty strong waterfall right by the side of the road.

This trail has some amazing views and I would definitely suggest the longer route!

I hope to get back to this one soon, but with so many trails not yet hiked, I’ll probably do those first. #stayexploring
